For those of us that live in Southern California, it is not uncommon to see people jogging, walking, riding bikes and working out at gyms. There is nothing wrong with that. In fact, I think that it is good that we keep ourselves in shape. It is good for us both mentally and physically. It is also good for us spiritually. But, what happens when our concern for our physical health passes our concern for our spiritual health?
In 1 Timothy 4:8 we read, “8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”
Bodily exercise is good, but we are still exercising a body that is temporary and will eventually stop working. Paul reminds us to focus on our spiritual health because it is that, and only that, that is permanent and will be with us for eternity. As you look at your spiritual health, “are you in shape?”
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
