When I was young in my business career, I often found myself on committees that I didn’t want to be on. Believe me, some made no sense for me to be on (e.g. a committee to set-up facilities for new moms in the workplace). Because my bosses knew I couldn’t say “no”, I often felt like I was asked because they knew no one else would say “yes”. It never donned on me that maybe that wasn’t the answer at all. Maybe, just maybe, I was asked on those committees because they felt I could provide some assistance. Did you know that the same applies to how we serve the Lord and our local churches?
In Numbers 3:5-6 we read, “5 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: 6 “Bring the tribe of Levi near, and present them before Aaron the priest, that they may serve him.” The tribe of Levi was presented to serve. In other words, they had to be deemed “worthy” to serve the Lord.
Not everyone can serve the Lord, only those that are deemed worthy. The next time you are asked to help at your local church, consider it an honor. You are among a select few that have been presented to the Lord to serve Him.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
