Putting into Practice

In my daily reading today, I read in Nehemiah 6:13 – “13 For this reason he was hired, that I should be afraid and act that way and sin, so that they might have cause for an evil report, that they might reproach me.” God had commanded Nehemiah to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem and there were those that were attempting to prevent Nehemiah from following God’s command out of fear for their own well being. Nehemiah made this declaration to those that would seek to do him harm and he makes the same declaration to us. There will those in this world that will seek to cause us to fear and sin so that they may have cause for an evil report against us. It may be someone at home, work, school, etc. When we take a stand for Jesus, we become a target of the enemy. Nehemiah reminds us that following Jesus will not be easy, but we are to remain strong, do not hear and get to work (Haggai 2:1-9).
Who should we fear? The answer is simple in theory, but a little more difficult to put into practice. We should remind ourselves that we are to only fear God as we are commanded in Matthew 10:28 – “28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
