A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

A Psalm of Thanksgiving – Psalms 100

100 Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;[a]
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

No One Knows You Like I Do

There are those people in your life that know you better than anyone else and there are those that you know better than others. It is a very close, deep relationship that has been built over time, with love, care and patience. These are the people that know what you are thinking before you say anything, know how you are feeling before you make an expression, know what you would say before you open your mouth. We are all blessed to have these people in our lives. It is good to stop and thank those people that know you better than others. As you do that, don’t forget to thank the One who knew you first.

In Hosea 13:4-6 we read, ““Yet I am the Lord your God Ever since the land of Egypt, And you shall know no God but Me; For there is no savior besides Me. I knew you in the wilderness, In the land of great drought. When they had pasture, they were filled; They were filled and their heart was exalted; Therefore they forgot Me.”

Take time today to give thanks to the One who has known you through the good times and the bad; through the happy times and the sad; through the celebration and the sorrows. Give thanks today to the only One that can say “no one knows you like I do”.

This Too Shall Pass

“This too shall pass”. It is a common saying people say to comfort those going through difficult times. “This too shall pass” gives us hope. Yes, things may be bad and difficult now, but “this too shall pass”. This phrase is intended to make us feel better, but did you know that there is something that we should never want to pass?

In Matthew 24:35 we read, “35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

Yes, Heaven and earth will pass away, but we can take comfort and receive hope in the fact that God’s Word never will pass. It will always remain true. It will never change. It will never disappoint us. Don’t take comfort in the things that will pass, take comfort in the one thing that will never pass.

The Smell of Sin

Last night, a skunk said “hello” to one of our dogs (the other dog was greeted by a skunk about a month ago). People will recommend that you combine several soaps, oils, and other liquids to develop a shampoo to remove the smell from an animal. While it may help, it normally takes a few weeks for the smell to go away. Last night, we tried something different. We immediately put our dog in the pool (she can swim) and let her splash a round for a few minutes. We had been told that if you place a dog in a chlorine pool immediately, it will remove the smell before the oils can sink into the dog’s hair.  It worked!!!! When we took her out, all we smelled was wet dog.  Did you know that we also need a quick response to the smell of sin in our lives?

In Acts 3:19 we read, “19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Just like the oils from the skunk, if we don’t immediately remove sin from our lives, it leaves a “smell” that is displeasing to ourselves and those around us. If there is the smell of sin in your life right now, jump into the Living Water so that it may be removed from your life.

On Guard!!!

Guard the Faith – 1 Timothy 6:20-21

20 O Timothy! Guard what was committed to your trust, avoiding the profane and idle babblings and contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge— 21 by professing it some have strayed concerning the faith.

Never forget that our faith is precious and fragile. If we do not guard it and commit to it daily, we open ourselves up to straying from it. Guard your faith so that you can keep your faith.

Do You Desire to be Rich?

Do you know what you are passionate about in life? Well, one way to find out is to determine what drives you each day. What do you think of? What do you do? How do you spend your time and your money? Once you begin to answer these questions, you will begin to see what you are passionate about. There are scriptures in the Bible that warn of the dangers of being rich and having a lot of money. Yes, those are much needed warnings, but did you know that we can have riches in our lives that have take us away from Jesus, but have nothing to do with money?

In 1 Timothy 6:9-10 we read, “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Sometimes those “riches” that we long for in our lives have nothing to do with money, but they still lead to us drawing away from the Lord. As I asked in the beginning, “what are you passionate about in life”. Is it money? Is it activities? Is it material possessions? Is it Jesus?
