I know that I have shared with you my weakness for sweets. In fact, if there are any sweets in the house (candy, cookies, ice cream, etc.) I will eat it. Sometimes my wife will try to hide it from me, but I have a “nose for sweets”. I will find it and eat it. That is why my wife makes sure we do not have sweets in the house. You see, if we do not have it, I will not eat it. It is that simple — she removes the temptation and I don’t think about it. When it comes to our spiritual walks, we must do the same thing.
In Ezra 10:11 it states, “ 11 Now therefore, make confession to the Lord God of your fathers, and do His will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the pagan wives.”
The Bible tells us that we must look at the things in our lives that we know cause us to sin, or weaken our walks with the Lord, and “separate yourselves from the peoples of the land”. We fool ourselves if we think that we are strong enough to endure the temptation — only Jesus was able to do that. As you look at your life, what is it that Jesus is saying “separate yourself” from?
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
