A few years ago, I did something foolish — I tried to replicate a food challenge that was on the Travel Channel’s show “Man v. Food”. It was very appropriately called the “hellfire spicy tuna challenge”. Well, I can tell you there was not a lot of tuna, but a lot of spice. To be specific, cayenne pepper! I am not afraid to tell you that I only completed half of the challenge. I am also not afraid to tell you that I was suffering for a few days after that. You see, what I thought would taste good in my mouth resulted in pain and suffering in my body for days to come. Did you know that the same can be said for sin?
In Job 20:12-14 it states, “12 “Though evil is sweet in his mouth, And he hides it under his tongue, 13 Though he spares it and does not forsake it, But still keeps it in his mouth, 14 Yet his food in his stomach turns sour; It becomes cobra venom within him.”
Yes, sin may “taste” sweet while we are in the act, but never forget that it will ultimately make your stomach turn sour. Or, as Job tells us, “it becomes cobra venom within him”. Sin will always be bad. Sin will always turn sour. Sin will always be poison to you and your body.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
