In my humble opinion, it seems that more and more people are spending their time “fitting in” with the world, rather with the Lord. We all want to be liked. We all want to have friends. We all want to be happy. But, as we “fit in” with the world, are we making our lives better or worse?
In Genesis 34:25-26 we read, “25 Now it came to pass on the third day, when they were in pain, that two of the sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah’s brothers, each took his sword and came boldly upon the city and killed all the males. 26 And they killed Hamor and Shechem his son with the edge of the sword, and took Dinah from Shechem’s house, and went out.”
Shechem, a prince, had forced, sexual relations with Dinah (Jacob’s daughter) and Jacob’s family vowed revenge for this unGodly act upon Dinah. They devised a plan to have all of the males from Hamor and Shechem’s city be circumcised so that they two cultures may marry and live together. Hamor and Schechem agreed because they “wanted to fit in” with Jacob’s family. Three days after being circumcised, Jacob’s family attached and completely wiped the city out. You see, Hamor and Shechem’s desire to fit in for their own needs was their downfall.
In your desire to “fit in” with the world, don’t let that desire be your downfall. Remember that you are the Lords. Remember that you are to live according to His Word. Remember that all that they world can do for you is to weaken your relationship with God.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
