2 Samuel 2:4-7 – 4 Then the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Judah. And they told David, saying, “The men of Jabesh Gilead were the ones who buried Saul.” 5 So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead, and said to them, “You are blessed of the Lord, for you have shown this kindness to your lord, to Saul, and have buried him. 6 And now may the Lord show kindness and truth to you. I also will repay you this kindness, because you have done this thing. 7 Now therefore, let your hands be strengthened, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and also the house of Judah has anointed me king over them.”
The story of David becoming a king is one of patience. The Lord had told David that he had been anointed king over Israel, but David would have to wait to see that happen. Along the way, the then king, Saul, would pursue David several times to try to kill him. Doesn’t sound like God’s plan was working out, does it?
There are times in our own lives where we are “sure” that the Lord has spoken to us and given us direction. Maybe, there have even been words of prophesy spoken over you. Unfortunately, you have waited and waited, but God’s plan just didn’t seem to be working out. Never worry, from creation, God has shown a patter of “preparing before fulfilling”. Yes, the Lord will answer your prayer in His time and His way. Don’t lose heart, if the Lord prepares it, you can rest assured that He will fulfill it.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
