What About the Heart?

This is one of my favorite times of the year — it is football season!!!! I enjoy listening to the “experts” predict upcoming games. They spend hours and hours dissecting every aspect of the game, team and coaching staff. With all of the “data”, they still cannot predict accurately every game, every weekend. Why? Because there is a component of a team that cannot be measured by numbers — the heart. I have seen that this year in the football team that I help coach. No, we might not have the biggest players, the most players on the team, or even the most talented players around. But, there is something that we have that other teams do no — heart. It is our heart that drives us, gives us the strength, encourages us and dictates who we are.

Paul wrote in Philippians 4:1313 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Why would Paul, a man thought to be of “average” body and a physical ailment, declare he could to all things? Because of “him” – Jesus. Paul knew that he could not do everything on his own, but he believed that he could do all things through Jesus. You see, Paul had heart, Paul had faith in Jesus. No, an “average” man could not do everything, but with Jesus, Paul could “do all things”.

As you face each day, remember that you can “do all things through him who strengthens me”. You don’t need to be the strongest, smartest or best looking, but you do need heart — faith in Jesus. You can and will do all things because Jesus is more than enough for us.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
