Recently, tragedy struck a local community college in Roseburg, Oregon. A gunman singled out Christians, telling them they would see God in “one second,” during a rampage that left at least nine innocent people dead and several more wounded. If victims said they were Christian, “then they were shot in the head. If they said no, or didn’t answer, they were shot in the legs.” We have all read the Bible, we all know that it tells us that we will be persecuted, but how far are you willing to go? Most likely, the first Christian victim was not aware of what was about to happen, but I am sure that victims 2-7 were. It strikes me that given the option to deny their faith, they chose to stand firm in their beliefs.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:10-11, “10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Faith requires sacrifice and with sacrifice comes blessing. May each of those victims serve as reminders to us of what it means to stand firm in our faith. Our world is changing, views of Christianity are changing, but I pray that our faith never will.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
