This week I read about a fascinating research study done by Vicki Medvec, a professor at Northwestern University. She studied Olympic medalists and she discovered that Bronze medalists were happier than Silver medalists. That may sound crazy, but it is true. Medvec found that Silver medalists tended to focus on how close they came to winning gold so they weren’t satisfied with silver. Bronze medalists tended to focus on how close they came to not winning a medal at all so they were just happy to be on the medal stand at all. When it comes to our spiritual life, would you believe that we should all “go for the bronze”?
Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Paul reminds us to give thanks for what we DO have, not what we DON’T have. This study should remind us that If we spend all of our time comparing ourselves to others, then we will miss all of the blessings that God has given us and nobody else.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
