Many people have trouble understanding God’s grace and mercy. We assume that in order to receive the Lord’s blessing, we must first “earn” it. The way that we believe we can do this is by our acts. How quick are we to forget that the gift of grace and mercy that the Lord gives us is something that we cannot earn.
2 Samuel 8:7 tells us, “7 So David said to him, “Do not fear, for I will surely show you kindness for Jonathan your father’s sake, and will restore to you all the land of Saul your grandfather; and you shall eat bread at my table continually.”
King David showed kindness to Mephibosheth, Jonathan’s son, not because of anything that he had done. In fact, until this verse, David was not aware that Mephibosheth was alive. David showed kindness because of a promise that he had made to Jonathan. The Lord tells us, “I will surely show you kindness”, not because of what we do to try to earn it; He shows it to us because He has promised it to us. God’s grace and mercy is available to you today because it has been promised to you.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
