In the Blink of an Eye

Romans 12:2 – 2 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer

Many of us are dealing with trials and struggles in our lives at any given time. It might be relational, financial, or something other. Perhaps, it seems that just as one trial is ending, another one is beginning.  When I was younger, I used to watch “I Dream of Jeannie”. It was a TV show about Major Nelson in the Air Force that finds a bottle with a jeannie in it. Regardless of what problem Major Nelson got himself into, Jeannie would blink her eyes and make everything better.

Don’t you wish that we could blink our eyes and make everything better? Regardless of our situation, in the blink of an eye, everything would be solved. Our relationships would be restored. Our financial situation would no longer be an issue. Regardless of our trial, in the blink of an eye, it would be turned into a triumph.  That might be great TV, but it is not realistic.

Our verse today reminds us that our struggles should always be approached with patience and prayer.  We don’t blink them away. We should ask –what is it Lord you want to teach me in this? We need to come to a place where we can honestly tell the Lord that our heart is willing to learn through the trial however long it may be.  If the storm brings you closer to the Lord — then let it thunder and hail! That is right — dance in the rain and the storm, rejoicing with joy that the Lord has already gone before you in the battle.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
