I Don’t Care What People Think

Ecclesiastes 7:1 – A good name is better than precious ointment, And the day of death than the day of one’s birth;

People may say that they “don’t care what people think”, but is that really the attitude we should have when it comes to loving our fellow brothers and sisters?  It has been said that what people think of you the moment you die is the most important thought they will ever have about you. Will they grieve for you or will they breath a sigh of relief? Will they cherish the moments they had with you? Or, will they be thankful for your passing?

Today’s scripture reminds us that one of the most important blessings that we can leave for our loved ones is our name. No, not our actual name; our reputation and image. Are you living your life to bless your family with a good name? Or, are you living with the “I don’t care what people think” philosophy? What you do does matter, what you leave your loved ones with will either bless them or burden them. What name will you leave them with?
