God – 1, Us – 0

2 Chronicles 32:7-8 – “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.
I remember being in elementary school and playing kickball at recess and lunch.  It always felt good to be on the team with the “better” players, and it really felt good to win. Based upon who you had on your team, you could normally tell before the game ever started whether or not you would win. Knowing ahead of time that we were going to win made the game more enjoyable and fun. I believe that we should take this same approach with our problems.
Today’s passage reminds me that when we face our battles, problems and struggles, we need to make sure we are on the “right” team. Too often, we try to deal with our issues by ourselves, but if you look at your past, I am sure that you will find you don’t always fix the problem. Perhaps we have a 50% “success” rate of solving our issues. Unfortunately, that means we also have a 50% “failure” rate. God, on the other hand, has a 100% success rate. He always wins. As you look at your struggles and problems that lie ahead, “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed….but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” If you have to choose someone to fight your battles and deal with your problems, why not give them to God? He has never lost and He won’t lose your battle either. And, that fact alone should bring you comfort and peace.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
