Not Again!

2 Chronicles 33:21-24 –21 Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. 22 But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done; for Amon sacrificed to all the carved images which his father Manasseh had made, and served them. 23 And he did not humble himself before the Lord, as his father Manasseh had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more. 24 Then his servants conspired against him, and killed him in his own house.

There are certain books in the Bible where it is easy to “glimpse” over. Numbers, Kings, Chronicles come to mind. The majority of these books deal with genealogy, census taking, etc. So many numbers, so many names, so many countries.  If you are not careful, you can miss the important messages that are given to us in these passages.

Today’s verses, for example, spoke very loudly to me. Amon became king and he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done. His father, Manasseh had done much evil in the sight of the Lord until the Lord brought judgement upon him. He was captured and stripped of all he had. As a result, he humbled himself before the Lord. Yet, we read today that his son did not follow his father’s repentance, but instead continued the rebellion against God. Why is it that so many people ignore the Godly examples around them and instead choose to follow those that do “evil in the sight of the Lord”? The reality is that we all will look to others to be examples, my prayer for you today is that you will seek those Godly people that will encourage you, strengthen you and be that example that will bring you closer to the Lord.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
