Them Bones, Them Bones

2 Corinthians 4:16-18  So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,  as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

As I have gotten older, I have seen different parts of my body start to fail me.  It is scary because in the larger scheme in life, I am relatively young.  When I read this verse, I feel encouraged.  For this “light momentary affliction” I feel today in my knees, my eyes, my body . . .  is my preparation for eternity.  I don’t think I ever looked at my bodily failings as such. Lets start looking at our life that way.  Not just when our body fails us, but when life fails us — remember it is transient — it will all surely pass in time and we are being prepared for something far greater! Amen! May the joy of the Lord be yours today in all circumstances!
