Matthew 15:19-20 – 8 But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. 20 These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile the man.”
Have you ever encountered someone that had a “funny” look on their face? You knew for certain that they were thinking about something, perhaps even about you, but when you ask them, they refuse to answer. It can drive you crazy with suspicion and curiosity. Sometimes you find out, other times you do not. We make so much about the words people speak, but we rarely think about the words that are not spoken.
Matthew today reminds us, “8 But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man”. Words come from the heart, words are created in the heart. I am not concerned about the words people speak because it gives me an insight into their heart. The words that concern me are those that are not spoken. They are the secrets of the heart, they are the sins of the heart. Yes, words may hurt, but the words that are stored and hidden in the heart are an unheard danger.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
