1 Corinthians 5:7 – 7 Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump, just as you are in fact unleavened. For Christ our Passover also has been sacrificed.
Perhaps you have noticed that for many things in life, mixing “new” and “old” doesn’t work. We replace the “old” oil in our cars, we don’t mix it with new because it can lead to problems with our engines. Adding “new” ingredients with “old” ingredients can lead to bad tastes and possible rotten food. We all have learned, one way or the other, that mixing “new” and “old” just doesn’t work.
Paul reminds us today that the same can be said for our spiritual lives. Paul tells us, “Clean out the old leaven so that you may be a new lump“. When we accepted Jesus, we became new creations, new in Christ. Our pasts have been deleted, our sins washed away. Take time today to examine your lives and determine if there is any “old leaven” left that is preventing you from being all that the Lord wants you to be.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
