Titus 1:16 – 16 They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.
Back in college, I was an emergency medical technician (EMT) and I worked in several local emergency rooms and a trauma center. As you can imagine, during my years as an EMT, I saw A LOT. Some gruesome, some sad, and some unbelievable. I will always remember the patients we treated that were suffering from respiratory issues caused by smoking. While they were gasping for air, the doctor would always tell them they needed to stop smoking. Believe it or not, many times that same doctor would then go outside to smoke a cigarette. I always found it ironic that the doctor’s words did not match their actions.
In today’s passage, we are told, “but by their deeds they deny Him”. Just like those doctor’s in the emergency room, we may tell people one thing, however, our “deeds” will always reveal our true self. As you live out your relationship with Jesus, make sure your words and deeds always match. No, it will not always be easy, but it is necessary and required if we are to glorify and honor Him.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
