Jesus Weeps Over Jerusalem

Luke 19:41-44 – 41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.”

Occasionally, people will express their sadness over how things have changed in society. What once was wrong is now right and what once was right is now called wrong. This dilemma weights heavily on people’s hearts. People may question where is God in all of this.

In today’s scripture, Jesus reminds us that “43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,” Jesus wept over Jerusalem after He had entered into the city that final week, but not as a visitor, but as it’s King. He had claimed His city and He had claimed His people. While people may become discouraged over what they see happening around them, we can take comfort in knowing that the King has already claimed our cities and the King has already claimed us as His own.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
