“Do As I Say, Not As I Do”

Proverbs 7:25 – 25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths;

How often has we told our children or those around us, “do as I say, not as I do”. In a weird way, when correcting someone else for their actions, we are also acknowledging that our actions are not what they should be. Somehow, it seems to justify us, while correcting others.

Today’s verse says, 25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths;” Ironically, while Solomon was warning us of letting our “heart turn aside to her ways”, he forgot to listen to his own advice. Proverbs was written in his youth, when he was following God. Ecclesiastes was written in his old age, when he had returned to God. In between the writing of these 2 books, Solomon forgot about his own advice. He strayed, he sinned, he did those things God had told him not to do. Fortunately, he had time to repent and return. That won’t necessarily be the case for all of us. Remember to not only tell people how they should live, but set the Godly example for all to follow.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
