Testing God

2 Kings 1: 13-14 – 13 Again, he sent a third captain of fifty with his fifty men. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and pleaded with him, and said to him: “Man of God, please let my life and the life of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight. 14 Look, fire has come down from heaven and burned up the first two captains of fifties with their fifties. But let my life now be precious in your sight.”

There is a well-known saying that goes, “if you continue to do the same things, you will continue to get the same results”. This saying is not only true to our lives, but also to our spiritual walks.  If we live our lives outside of God, we will live a life of suffering and consequences. That has never changed, that will never change.

In today’s passage we are reminded of a king who tested God three times. “13 Again, he sent a third captain of fifty with his fifty men. And the third captain of fifty”. Two times earlier this king sent a captain and fifty men and two times earlier they were consumed with fire. The king thought it wise to test God a third time, but the captain knew better — he knew not to test God. If you are living a life that is causing you pain and  consequences, now is the time to change. Know that it is never wise to test God. If living outside of God is causing you pain, perhaps it is time to now live in His goodness and His plan.

I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
