2 Kings 18:4-6 – 4 He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan. 5 He trusted in the Lord God of Israel, so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor who were before him. 6 For he held fast to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses.
Most people probably do not like to do house cleaning, but are usually thankful when they are finished. Because of their labor, they get to enjoy a clutter-free, clean house that they can live in. It makes them feel better about themselves and about their home. Cleaning house is beneficial to us, but cleaning our spiritual house is fruitful.
In today’s scripture we are told of how Hezekiah “removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent”. If we are to truly receive the peace and joy in this life that the Lord desires us to have, we must first remove those things from our spiritual houses that will prevent us from drawing nearer to God. Just as cleaning our house makes us feel better, cleaning our spiritual house will make us feel blessed.
I pray for blessings today for you on your Journey!
