Genesis 35:2-4 – 2 And Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your garments. 3 Then let us arise and go up to Bethel; and I will make an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress and has been with me in the way which I have gone.” 4 So they gave Jacob all the foreign gods which were in their hands, and the earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the terebinth tree which was by Shechem.
Some of us may have foreign gods in our lives and might not even know it. A foreign god is anything, anyone, any event that we put before our God. It is what drives us, our schedule and our finances. In today’s passage, Jacob told his household, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you,” We should never allow anything or anyone to come before God. If there are foreign gods in your life, I pray that you will “put away” those gods and return all of your attention and resources to the one true God today.
I pray for blessing today for you on your Journey!
