Cross Over

Joshua 22:19 – 19 Nevertheless, if the land of your possession is unclean, then cross over to the land of the possession of the Lord, where the Lord’s tabernacle stands, and take possession among us; but do not rebel against the Lord, nor rebel against us, by building yourselves an altar besides the altar of the Lord our God.

This is the week of Easter; a celebration of new life, new beginnings, new hope. It isn’t a celebration of what Jesus did for Himself, but a celebration of what Jesus did for us. In today’s passage we read, “then cross over to the land of the possession of the Lord, where the Lord’s tabernacle stands, and take possession among us”. Easter morning, Jesus gave us the opportunity to cross over, to change the direction of our life and gave us a second chance. This Easter, I pray for you that you will take advantage of the second chance that Jesus gave you to “cross over” and begin new. Easter morning is a new day, a new hope a new life in Jesus Christ.

It Is Not About Religion

Joshua 22:5 – But take careful heed to do the commandment and the law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Different people may have different ideas, thoughts and definitions of what it means to be a Christian. Today’s Word reminds us of what it really is, “the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways, to keep His commandments, to hold fast to Him, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Love God, follow God, obey God and serve God. No, Christianity is not about religion, it is about a relationship. And, it is that relationship that should drive every other aspect of your life.

All Came to Pass

Joshua 21:43-45 – 43 So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

Perhaps right now your faith is failing. You have been faithful, obedient and trusted God, yet it seems as though the Lord has abandoned you or forgotten about you. In today’s passage we read, “45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” Remember, the Lord has promised to protect you and provide for you. When it comes to the prayers we pray, it is not a question of “if God will answer”, but “when will God answer”. Have faith today that your answer is coming. Not because we deserve it, but because God promised it.

God Knows No Age

Joshua 13:1 – 13 Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.

We falsely assume that we are either “too young” or “too old” to be used by the Lord. Fortunately, those assumptions couldn’t be further from the truth. In today’s scripture it says, “ 13 Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.” God used a young boy (David) to defeat a giant, a teenage girl to give birth to a Savior, a baby to save the world and Joshua (“advanced in years”) to defeat Israel’s enemies and possess the land God intended for Israel. Remember, regardless of your age, you are and will be useful to God.

The Right Credit

Joshua 10:23- 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.

As you celebrate your successes and victories in life, remember to first give credit where credit is due.  Joshua was a great leader and warrior, but Joshua was also humble. “So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.” Recognize that your victories are not based on your own abilities, but on the Power of the Lord. May you give all of your success to the Lord to honor and glorify Him.

Strength in Weakness

Joshua 10:36-37 – 36 So Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it. 37 And they took it and struck it with the edge of the sword—its king, all its cities, and all the people who were in it; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon, but utterly destroyed it and all the people who were in it.

What makes God’s powerful people powerful? The answer is simple — they are weak. Those that recognize that by our own skills and talents we are weak are those that also recognize that it is only through the Lord that we can receive the power, strength and might to do what He has called us to do. Joshua was a great warrior, but he was first obedient. He did only what the Lord told him to do. My prayer for you today is that you will not let your weaknesses limit your abilities, but you will call on the Lord to make your strong in Him to do what He has called you to do.

Today, You Will Face Battles

Joshua 10: 7-8 – So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.”

In some way, shape or form, today, you will face battles. Big or small, easy or hard, they are coming. Today’s passage reminds us ““Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.” Remember, that your battles are not your’s to fight. The Lord, when we are obedient and faithful to Him has already fought that battle for us, already conquered our enemies and brought us into victory. There is no battle today that is bigger, greater or more powerful than the Lord.
