All Came to Pass

Joshua 21:43-45 – 43 So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. 44 The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. 45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

Perhaps right now your faith is failing. You have been faithful, obedient and trusted God, yet it seems as though the Lord has abandoned you or forgotten about you. In today’s passage we read, “45 Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.” Remember, the Lord has promised to protect you and provide for you. When it comes to the prayers we pray, it is not a question of “if God will answer”, but “when will God answer”. Have faith today that your answer is coming. Not because we deserve it, but because God promised it.

I pray for blessing today for you on your Journey!

God Knows No Age

Joshua 13:1 – 13 Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.

We falsely assume that we are either “too young” or “too old” to be used by the Lord. Fortunately, those assumptions couldn’t be further from the truth. In today’s scripture it says, “ 13 Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed.” God used a young boy (David) to defeat a giant, a teenage girl to give birth to a Savior, a baby to save the world and Joshua (“advanced in years”) to defeat Israel’s enemies and possess the land God intended for Israel. Remember, regardless of your age, you are and will be useful to God.

The Right Credit

Joshua 10:23- 23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.

As you celebrate your successes and victories in life, remember to first give credit where credit is due.  Joshua was a great leader and warrior, but Joshua was also humble. “So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the Lord had said to Moses; and Joshua gave it as an inheritance to Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. Then the land rested from war.” Recognize that your victories are not based on your own abilities, but on the Power of the Lord. May you give all of your success to the Lord to honor and glorify Him.

Strength in Weakness

Joshua 10:36-37 – 36 So Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, to Hebron; and they fought against it. 37 And they took it and struck it with the edge of the sword—its king, all its cities, and all the people who were in it; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon, but utterly destroyed it and all the people who were in it.

What makes God’s powerful people powerful? The answer is simple — they are weak. Those that recognize that by our own skills and talents we are weak are those that also recognize that it is only through the Lord that we can receive the power, strength and might to do what He has called us to do. Joshua was a great warrior, but he was first obedient. He did only what the Lord told him to do. My prayer for you today is that you will not let your weaknesses limit your abilities, but you will call on the Lord to make your strong in Him to do what He has called you to do.

Today, You Will Face Battles

Joshua 10: 7-8 – So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valor. And the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.”

In some way, shape or form, today, you will face battles. Big or small, easy or hard, they are coming. Today’s passage reminds us ““Do not fear them, for I have delivered them into your hand; not a man of them shall stand before you.” Remember, that your battles are not your’s to fight. The Lord, when we are obedient and faithful to Him has already fought that battle for us, already conquered our enemies and brought us into victory. There is no battle today that is bigger, greater or more powerful than the Lord.

Slave to Your Sin

Joshua 9: 22-23 –  22 Then Joshua called for them, and he spoke to them, saying, “Why have you deceived us, saying, ‘We are very far from you,’ when you dwell near us? 23 Now therefore, you are cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves—woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God.”

People may assume that sin can free them from troubles, but in reality as we sin, we become slaves to our sin. In today’s passages Joshua said, “Why have you deceived us,?” As a result of their lies (sin), Joshua then told them, “Now therefore, you are cursed, and none of you shall be freed from being slaves”. Sin may give you temporary relief, but it will always be followed by permanent pain. The only way we can be completely free is to live in God’s love, God’s truth and God’s Word. It is He and only He that makes us free, gives us confidence and allows us to live free from the sin of this world.

The Whole Thing….

Joshua 8:34-35 – 34 Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law. 35 There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the foreigners who lived among them.

We often will see what we want to see, hear what we want to hear. In other words, we acknowledge the “blessings”, but ignore the “consequences”. We call the Bible the “Book of Blessings”, but forget that it is also contains “curses”. In today’s passage it reads, “34 Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law.” Yes, the Bible contains many blessings and promises, but it also contains consequences and curses. Remember, our actions can either please or disappoint the Lord. Our actions can either lead to blessings or curses.

Blessing Through Suffering

Joshua 1:10-11 – 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying, 11 “Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’”

Sometimes the greatest blessings we have in life are experienced after some of the greatest sufferings in our life. Sometimes, it is the suffering that allows us to experience the blessing. In today’s Word we read, “Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’” Do not fear the “Jordan’s” you must cross, but have faith that through your suffering, the Lord will guide you to the blessings He desires for you.

Prayer of Strength

Joshua 1:7 – Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

Most likely, we will all face some sort of struggle or trial today. May today’s passage be a prayer of strength for what you will encounter today. “be strong and very courageous.” Remember, we will never be victorious on our own strength, but only by the strength and power of the Lord. Allow Him to fight your battles, wage your wars so that “you may prosper wherever you go.
